Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash extensions are individual, synthetic lashes attached onto existing eyelashes
using a quick drying bonding agent. They differ from ‘false’ eyelashes
on strips because they are carefully matched to the client’s own lashes
before being applied individually. For this reason they look more natural. They
are semi permanent and are perfect for creating a fuller, longer look. Eyelash
extensions come in various lengths, thicknesses and colours, and are waterproof,
swim-proof and gym-proof.

How long do they last?
WITH GOOD AFTERCARE Eyelash extensions may last from three 3 weeks to three months,
depending on the cycle of your hair growth. While the artificial lash is placed
directly upon the human eyelash, they both will fall off naturally as your lashes
fall out and re-grow. The eyelash extensions do not cause the natural lash to
fall out prematurely. Natural eyelashes have a 90 – 120 day cycle on average
and are shed at different rates during that time depending on lifestyle, eyelash
type and general care.
Is Patch testing carried out prior to the treatment?
Absolutely! Even though reactions are uncommon, it is always best practice to
carry out a patch test as in eyelash or hair tinting. Not all salons/technicians
offer this but we feel it gives added re-assurance to our clients.
What does the procedure involve? DURING THE CONSULTATION: A patch
test is carried out at least 24 hours prior to treatment to ensure the client
is not allergic to the adhesive. The treatment is discussed and any contra-indications
are ruled out. This gives the client a good chance to discuss wishes and expectations.
All aftercare is carefully explained during this consultation.
The length and hair strength of the clients natural lashes are carefully examined
before choosing the weight and length of the eyelash extensions. The reason for
this is because an extensions too thick and heavy for the clients’ natural
lashes could weigh them down making them uncomfortable and cause premature ‘lash
loss’.
DURING THE TREATMENT: Any makeup
left on the eyes is removed to ensure the lashes are completely clean and free
from oil / cosmetics. A small strip of micro-pore tape is covered over the lower
eyelashes and a lent-free gel pad is placed under the eye. The client can then
close their eyes and a small brush will be used to brush through the lashes.
Each individual hair is separated for the extension to be bonded to it. For a
natural look, 20-30 eyelash extension can be applied, or if the client is looking
for a more glamorous look, 30-45 lashes can be applied. The client’s eyes
are closed during the treatment so it is generally very relaxing. The actual
procedure takes approximately 1 ½ - 2 hours depending on the amount of
eyelashes applied. Any small adjustments can be made at the end to perfect the
look.
How do you compare with your competitors?
Every client’s lash structure and shape is different and therefore we stock
a FULL range of widths, shapes and lengths of ‘curl’ of the highest
quality. This enables us to customise very natural, lightweight and therefore
comfortable eyelashes for our clients. The eyelash extensions range from 0.10mm – 0.25mm
in width, and 8mm – 15mm in length.
The bonding agents have been subjected to very stringent testing.
They contain no latex which can cause reactions or thickeners which can inhibit
the drying time.
Our Eyelash Technician has undergone a high level of training with a company
accredited by the Guild of Beauty Therapists. They are based
at Pinewood Studios (home of British TV and Film) and have rigorously researched ALL brands
of semi permanent lashes/glues offered in the marketplace in order to find the
right products to meet the demands of a high profile client base. This attention
to detail ensures the best possible results.
